Learn how to make an easy paper snow globe craft that’s perfect for preschoolers. This easy winter craft can use a photo or a paper cut-out to create a unique project for your kids to make. The project sneaks in fine motor building and uses simple, like construction paper, so it’s great for creating in the classroom, at a holiday party, or at the kitchen table.

Snow Globe Craft for Preschoolers

This simple snow globe craft is perfect for young kids. Not only is it easy, but it sneaks in important skills.

Snow globes are a fun winter craft. This version uses contact paper and construction paper to create a fun suncatcher-style project.

Creating your own snow globe will require many parts. Something clear for the globe, Something for the base of the snow globe, something cute to put inside, and fake snow.

When creating paper snow globes, most of these parts use different colors of paper, instead of things like clear plastic plates.

This photo craft uses important skills for 4-year-olds. It incorporates skills like basic circle shapes, scissor skills, and fine motor skills.

You can use this paper snow globe craft in several ways.

Decorate your classroom or playroom.
Practice simple circle shapes.
Put pictures in them to give to loved ones.

Tips for creating this holiday craft

These snow globes are very simple. But here are some tips to help you along the way.

To speed up this craft, you can punch the paper circles ahead of time.
If you don’t have time to take pictures, use a quick green triangle for a Christmas tree.
Instead of dots, find a snowflake paper punch or use confetti.

Easy Snow Globe Project

This snow globe craft is great for working on fine motor skills and makes a wonderful keepsake!

Active Time 15 minutes

Total Time 15 minutes

Difficulty Easy

Materials

Cardstock - White and Blues
Contact Paper
Picture or Drawing (see step 1)
Tape

Tools

Hole Punch
Scissors
Circle Template (lid, glass, anything circle!)
Paint Pen or Marker
Pen
Glue

Instructions

You will need to have a photograph or a drawing to place "in" your snow globe. Tilting their head back and arms out looks great! Just like they are going to catch the falling snow.
Roll out some contact paper and cut a piece that is wide enough to fit the circle template. Make sure the circle template is big enough to cover the picture with space around it.
Fold the contact paper in half and then trace a circle.
Cut out the circle. This should leave you with 2 identical contact paper circles. Set aside until later.
Cut out the image.
Start punching holes out of the blue papers.
Peel the backing off one of the contact paper circles. Attach the circle, sticky side up, to your work surface with tape.
Place the picture down onto the contact paper. With the backside towards you.
Start placing the blue dots all over the contact paper.
If you need more snow you can punch them right over your project!
When you have as much snow as you want carefully remove the tape.
Peel the backing off the second contact paper circle and carefully place it sticky side down over the first circle.
Smooth it out as much as you can. A few bubbles won't hurt!
Cut a scrap off of one of the blue papers to create a stand. Attach it with a small amount of glue.
Use a pen to write on your stand.
Display anywhere!

Easy Paper Penguin Craft That Kids Will Love To Make

An easy penguin craft that uses a kid-friendly quilling technique to create a 3D effect. Kids will love creating such a fun construction paper craft.

Penguin Craft

We love an easy craft that sneaks important skill-building. Create this simple penguin craft in your classroom or at your kitchen table.

Quilling is a fun paper craft technique. We wanted to create a method that was kid-friendly.

Kids wrap their construction paper strips around craft sticks before gluing them into place. This helps to give kids better control of each piece while building those important fine motor skills.

We’ve done this technique before with our paper turtles and quilled spiders.

Penguins are perfect for creating during your January lesson plans, or any other winter month. Or you can wait until World Penguin Day in April.

You can use these easy winter crafts in several ways.

Hang your paper penguins in your playroom or classroom.
Display several cute penguins on your classroom bulletin board.
Put them on the front of a winter card.
Decorate your front window.
Add them to your fridge.
Create them at your local library to go with some fun penguin books.
Create them during a winter-themed unit or winter animals unit

Tips for creating this animal craft:

These birds are very simple. But here are some tips to help you along the way.

If cutting out the eyes is too difficult for your little ones you can easily just draw them on with a black marker or using googly eyes.
To speed up this craft, try to pre-cut your paper strips.
Cutting the paper strips is great for building scissor skills. If you have time, let your child cut all the strips. It’s ok if they don’t all match perfectly.

Quilled Paper Penguin

Get a beginners lesson on quilling while making this cute paper penguin craft!

Prep Time 5 minutes

Active Time 15 minutes

Total Time 20 minutes

Difficulty Medium

Materials

Paper- Sheet of Black and White. Scrap of orange.
White Glue

Tools

2 Craft Sticks
Pallet or Plate for Glue
Scissors
Pencil
Paper Cutter

Instructions

Cut the black paper into 1" strips. Cut the white paper in half.
Take one black strip and glue the ends together to create a circle. This will be the penguin's belly.
Squeeze the circle a bit to create more of an oval shape. Use one of the craft sticks to add glue to the body and place it on one-half of the paper.
On a scrap of orange, draw and cut out 2 ovals and one small triangle. This will create the feet and a little orange beak.
Glue the ovals along the bottom of the penguin tucking them in slightly.
For the arms, trim curved edges on a paper strip and pick how long you want them to be.
Add glue and tuck them under the body.
Now we start quilling! Using a clean craft stick, pinch the end of a black strip and fold it around the craft stick.
Roll the stick while pinching the paper tightly until the whole strip is on the stick.
Slide the paper off and even out the edges.
Dip one end into white glue.
Then place in the penguin's body.
Continue this process, strip after strip, while you fill in the shape.
If any of the spirals unfold too far you can place another one inside.
On the second half of the white paper, trace an oval for the belly and two small ovals for the eyes. Cut them out.
Using a small scrap of black paper, attach the eyes and the beak with glue.
Add them both to your penguin and you're done!

This easy polar bear craft is great for younger kids. It uses basic supplies and simple shapes. It’s a wonderful winter animal craft for the preschool classroom or the kitchen table.

This polar bear craft is so easy you can have the whole class working on them at once. Glue together circle shapes to create a simple animal that kids will love to make.

Finding crafts to get you through those long winter months can be a challenge. This easy craft is a great way for kids of all ages to create during the winter season.

Sometimes the most basic craft is all you have time for. This simple animal craft is perfect for little crafters.

Grab some construction paper and scissors to make the basic pieces. Then glue them together. Finish it off with some paint snow dots and you have an adorable winter polar bear.

You’ll be amazed by how easy this craft is. Plus it sneaks in some important skill-building. Like fine motor skills and cutting practice.

You can use this easy winter craft in several ways.

Hang them in your playroom or classroom.

Tips for creating this animal craft:

These bears are very simple. But here are some tips to help you along the way.

If cutting out the eyes is too difficult for your little ones you can easily just draw them on with a black marker.
If you are trying to create this craft quickly, pre-cut your circles.
Let kids play with the different sizes of circles. They can make a giant polar bear or a bunch of tiny polar bear cubs!
Make different kinds of bears. Swap out the white paper and make a black or brown bear.
Young children may need help creating the rectangle used to make this a 3D papercraft. You may need to assist them.
We used construction paper, but you can use white printer paper if that’s what you have.
Use a piece of painter’s tape to secure the paint palette to the table. This will help keep the white paint in one place.
Play around with different ways to create this fun polar bear craft.
- Maybe make the ears out of cotton balls
- Use puffy paint to draw the mouth.
- Use googly eyes instead of paper.

Circle Polar Bear Craft

Grab some white and black construction paper and get ready to create this adorable polar bear paper craft.

Active Time 15 minutes

Total Time 15 minutes

Difficulty Easy

Materials

Paper - White, Black, & Background Color (ours is blue)
White Paint

Tools

Pencil
Glue Stick
Scissors
Black Marker
Cotton Swab

Instructions

Start by drawing circles onto the white paper. You need one large circle just a touch smaller than half the sheet. One medium circle. Two small circles.
On your black paper (you can use scraps for this) Draw two small circles and one oval for the polar bear's nose.
Have the kiddos cut out all of their circles. Then glue the large one down on your background first. You will only need a half sheet of paper for each background.
Next, add on your small white circles as ears. Glue these on and tuck them under the edge of the head a bit.
Glue your black oval onto your medium white circle. Use your black marker to finish his mouth.
Glue on your two little circles for the eyes.
Now to make the snout 3D. Take a scrap from your white paper and trim it to a rectangle. Fold in the edges to create a rectangle shape.
Glue one side of your rectangle to the back of the snout.
Then add on your head. Make sure to press the glue tabs down.
Last, come back with a bit of white paint and a cotton swab to add snow!

Notes

How to make an easy winter puzzle with craft sticks

An easy winter puzzle using craft sticks and paper snowflakes. These are great for toddlers, busy bags, car rides, or to hang on your refrigerator while you are making dinner.

Easy Winter Puzzle

We love to make snowflakes to hang around the house each winter season. It is nice to have a decoration you can keep up even when you take the tree down.

Since we inked the edges of our snowflakes this year we went into overdrive with how many snowflakes we ended up making.

I had to find something else to do with them. Since they each had different colored edges they were perfect for making this fun winter puzzle!

Supplies for a paper puzzle

Paper Snowflakes. The inked edges from this tutorial really help pick the different puzzles apart.
Jumbo Paint Sticks.
Mod Podge.
Craft Knife. Parents use only.
Tape. Scotch or masking.
A Foam Brush.

How to make this winter toddler activity

Start by lining up your sticks for your puzzle. I used 6 for each puzzle.

Use tape to secure your sticks together.

Flip your stick over, tape side down, and use your foam brush to put on a light layer of Mod Podge.

Then line up your snowflake and press down. I like to tilt snowflake a bit to help the pieces look a bit different.

Go over the top of the snowflake with Mod Podge. Try to get out any bubbles.

Some of the ink might bleed, but it gives the snowflake a light tint of the color which doesn’t look bad.

Let them dry completely and then use your Exacto knife to cut between each stick. Be very careful.

Remove the tape from the back and then add a bit more Mod Podge to the cut edges of the puzzle pieces.

Allow to dry completely and then play!

With the inked edges, you can mix all your winter puzzles together. These make a fun little busy bag to keep with you for quick boredom buster anytime you need it!

Six-Sided Snowflake Paper Craft

I have always loved making snowflakes! There something about the awe of unfolding and seeing what all of your random cuts and shapes have created.

I actually created these snowflakes a few years back, but we were in the middle of moving so I never wrote about it. This year was the first time we have made them since and they are just as pretty as I remembered!

The inked edges give this six-sided snowflake paper craft a finished look. Which makes them perfect for any winter projects you might have.

White Printer Paper.
Pencil.

How to cut a snowflake

First, we need to make our snowflakes. These instructions will help you to make a six-sided snowflake.

Start by cutting your paper into a square. Then fold it into a triangle. Then fold that triangle in half.

Now to get the six sides you have to fold this triangle into thirds. Start by folding one side towards the middle leaving about the same sized piece next to it. Then fold the other side over the top. Sometimes it takes a little wiggling to get it just right. Once you fold a few it gets pretty easy.

Cut off the points along the straight line.

Let your little one draw with a pencil what they want you to cut out.

Use nice sharp scissors to cut out their shapes.

On a piece of scratch paper take your marker and trace along the cut lines of your snowflake. Flip over and do the same thing on the back side.

Then unfold to see your beautiful creation!

Cutting a six-sided snowflake is always so much fun to do as a family and adding colors really make them pop!

How to make a resist snowflake art project with a fun twist

A snowflake art project that is perfect for kids of all ages. We use a fun twist that uses no watercolors. Less mess, more fun! Plus they’re learning about color mixing.

Snowflake Art Project

I have always been a fan of resist art. Little kids are always in awe when the paint just won’t go where the waxy surface is.

I love this fun little twist for this resist snowflake art project for a few reasons.

First, they don’t make as much of a mess as getting out the watercolors.

Second, they are learning about color mixing.

And third, I love the look of surprise when they peel up their designs to see what they created!

Classroom art project supplies:

Washable Markers.
Foil.
Cardstock.
White Oil Pastel. You could use a good white crayon as well. The lines will just be a bit thinner.
Spray Bottle filled with Water.

How to make these winter art projects

Start by designing your snowflakes on your white cardstock. It can be tricky to see what you have on there. Sit next to a good light source and hold the paper at an angle if you need to from time to time. You can do one big giant snowflake with dots all around or a few small ones.

Next, on your foil start swirling around your markers.

Add in different shades of blues.

Then sprits lightly with water.

Place your paper onto the foil. You want the snowflake side of the paper touching the marker side of the foil.

Press the paper down to get as much of the marker on as you can.

Then peel up and see your creation!

The more water you use the more the colors will blend together.

Place off to the side and allow them to dry. They will curl a bit so once they are dry you can place them under a few heavy books to flatten out.

Your kids will love revealing their snowflake art project!
