This simple apple craft for kids is a fun and unique way to decorate a classroom for back to school or your living room for fall. Plus your kids will love that they can help make them!

Press Painted Apple Craft For Kids

Fall is right around the corner and since we have always had a thing for apple crafts we wanted to add something new!

Press painting is something my kids love to do because of the beautiful results they can get at any age! It’s a form of process art that creates a different result with each apple.

Apple-themed art projects are perfect for decorating a classroom. We used these apples to create a garland and a mobile. But the possibilities are endless!

Tips for making this classroom art project.

This project can get messy! We recommend creating outdoors or in a space where the mess will not be an issue.
Let your kids decide if they want to make red or green apples.
Let your kids experiment. It is all about the process! There is no “right” or “wrong” way of doing this art project.

How to make apple garland

Below is our step by step tutorial for creating this art project. Feel free to print it for easy reference.

Apple craft for kindergartners

This press painted apple craft is perfect for kindergartners or toddlers!

Prep Time 5 minutes

Active Time 15 minutes

Total Time 20 minutes

Difficulty Easy

Materials

Cardboard
Apple Template printed onto white or colored paper.
Paint - Apple Colors
Parchment Paper
Water
Mini Cups
Glue

Optional Materials for Decorating

Hemp or string
Black Paint Pen or Marker
Painters Tape

Tools

Pipettes
Scissors
Craft Stick or something to mix paint

Instructions

Start by printing out your apple template. The apples can be on any color of paper as they will just be used to trace and cut out cardboard.
As for the leaves and stems, you can print them right onto green paper, or on white so that your little ones can color them in.
Mix your paints with a bit of water to make them a bit more fluid. You don’t need much water, this is why we choose a pipette to add it in.
Using your craft stick, drizzle paint onto your parchment paper.
This process works best when you use at least 2 colors on each apple.
Then press your apple into the paint.
Pull up and set to the side to dry.
Once dry you can add your stem and leaf using a bit of glue.
When your apples are finished you can decide how to decorate with them. You can use a paint pen or marker to add names.
You can also punch holes to string the apples to make a garland.
Or simply tape hemp to the back so they can dangle like a mobile!

We love this sun catcher style craft. It is so great for building fine motor skills and something you can hang in your window and enjoy! You can make butterflies in the spring or even turkeys in the fall! This craft has endless possibilities.

Supplies for your Fine Motor Apples:

Construction Paper. Red and Green.
Hole punches. I used 2 different sizes.
Contact Paper.
Colored Markers.
Tape.
Scissors.
Glue Stick.

How to create Fall Suncatchers

Check out the whole process in this quick video or see step by step directions below.

Start by punching holes out of your red and green paper. You can use different sizes, but a standard hole punch will also work.Take a piece of contact paper and draw a red circle and a green circle on the clear side. The red one will be about the size of your apple, the green should be smaller. You will cut the apple out of the red circle and the stem out of the green circle. This gives your child somewhere to aim with their dots.

Peel back the paper and tape, sticky side up, on your workspace. Now fill the circles with dots. Have them match the dots with the correct colored circle. Going over the edges is fine.When they are finished take the second piece of contact paper, peel off the back, and place it sticky side down on your circles.
If they are old enough they can cut out the red circles. Add a small indent in the top of the circle to create an apple.

Next, create a leaf and stem out of the green. Use your glue stick to assemble and you’re done!These turn out so neat. The light comes right through them!Hang them in a window or place in a card to your favorite teacher!

Create this fun 3D apple tree craft this fall. Use construction paper to create a 3D paper tree and top it with cute paper apples. It’s perfect for back to school, fall, or any time you want an apple craft.

3D Apple Tree Craft

We had a video go bonkers on our Construction Paper Crafts for Kids Facebook page. It is this fun little 3D construction paper tree that is full of possibilities.

You can dress it up for any season or occasion. We did simple green leaves before and on today’s post we are turning it into a fun 3D apple tree craft!

Like many of our projects, this is an easy craft that we’ve snuck some fine motor skill-building into. You will also see your child working on their scissor skills.

You can use these construction paper trees for a variety of reasons. We hung our apple trees on the refrigerator. Here are some other fun ideas.

Decorate a back-to-school bulletin board.
Attach them to the front of a card for a teacher.
Use them to talk about the different parts of a fruit tree.
Hang them around your play room.

Tips for creating paper trees:

This tree craft is very simple. But here are some tips to help you along the way.

If you are making a lot of trees, cut the strips and circles ahead of time.
You don’t need to measure the thickness of the paper strips. Let your child experiment with thin and thick strips.
If you do not have a paper cutter or circle punch, you can cut the pieces by hand.
Making this 3d construction paper tree for autumn instead? Cut out orange, yellow, and red leaves. Is it a spring tree you’re looking for? Create some small construction paper flowers. Winter is the easiest. Just leave the branches empty!

How to make 3D construction paper apple trees

This fun 3D apple tree is perfect for back-to-school or apple season.

Active Time 10 minutes

Total Time 10 minutes

Difficulty Easy

Materials

Construction Paper. One sheet of each blue, brown, green, red.
Glue Stick.

Tools

Instructions

Start by cutting your brown paper into a bunch of long strips. You do not need to measure their thickness, just as long as you have one the width you would like to use for your trunk. Take the trunk strip and cut/tear it in half.
Use your glue stick to attach one-half to your blue sheet of paper. Set aside the other half of your trunk for later. Now, glue the rest of your strips to the trunk.
Once all of the strips are attached glue on the other side of the trunk to hide and secure all of your branch ends.
Pick up a branch and loop it around twice then attach the end to the blue paper with glue. Repeat this with each branch.
Cut out as many 1″ circles as you would like apples. Each apple will need half of a 1/2″ green circle. Finally, you need one thin strip of green paper.
Stack your red circles and cut a small indent in the top to create the apple shape. Cut your strip into little stems. Cut your green circles in half.
Using a glue stick, assemble the apples!
Trim all of the stems.
Glue them to your construction paper tree!
