Cross Pipe Cleaner Pencil Topper

These pipe cleaner crafts are a great project for Sunday school or to do at home! These pencil toppers are easy to make and fun to use!

Materials

• Pipe cleaners - Brown and a color for the heart
• Unsharpened Pencil

Tools

• Scissors

Instructions

1. Cut your heart-colored pipe cleaner in half. You will only use one half for each pencil topper.
2. Fold your brown pipe cleaner in half. Pinch, at the fold, to create the top of the cross.
3. At the center of the cross, fold the ends of the pipe cleaner out into a sort of "T" shape.
4. Choose the length of the arms of the cross and fold in one end at that spot.
5. Once that end meets the center of the cross, bend it down 90 degrees to form the bottom of the cross.
6. Take the other end and fold it across to match the first end.
7. Then fold it down at the center. This will ensure that both arms are even.
8. Unfold to reveal your cross.
9. Place your heart-colored piece of pipe cleaner under the cross portion Centering it right below the center.
10. Fold each end of the pipe cleaner across the cross's center and tuck it behind the cross.
11. Make sure the ends are pointing down.
12. Fold one end back up and across the front of the cross and curl the edge over to create the top of the heart.
13. Repeat on the other side. At this point give it a good pinch to hold everything in place.
14. Line up the long ends of the cross to the top of the pencil.
15. At the base of the cross twist one side of the remaining pipe cleaner around the pencil.
16. Then twist the second piece in the opposite direction to secure.

• 3 paper plates per child
• Quick-dry tacky glue or school glue
• Blue tempera paint
• Black tempera paint
• Resurrection Template Files (1 cross and 2 tombs for each child)
• Metal brads

Instructions

1. Paint one paper plate blue and one paper plate black. Leave the third plate white.
2. Glue the cross to the white plate
3. On the black plate, glue one tomb with the stone in front of the entrance.
4. On the blue plate, glue one tomb with the stone rolled away.
5. Once the glue has dried, stack the plates and then punch a hole in the bottom left corner and add a metal brad.
6. Add additional embellishments or stickers!

• Contact Paper
• Pencils

• Sharpie

Instructions

1. Start by drawing a cross onto the clear side of your contact paper.
2. Peel off the backing of the contact paper
3. Tape it down to your surface, sticky side up.
4. Press the pencil eraser onto the ink pad and then onto the cross. Have the kids aim for the inside of the cross shape.
5. Change between colors until your cross is full. Make sure that they go all the way out to the edges.
6. Place a second piece of contact paper on top. Sticky side to sticky side.
7. Press the pieces together to remove any air bubbles.
8. Finish up by cutting out your cross suncatcher craft!

• Colored Paper (Sunset Colors)
• White Cardstock
• Glue Stick
• Scissors
• Pencil

How to make these simple paper cross crafts

Use scissors to cut paper strips from the colored paper in sunset colors. 

We picked colors from yellow to pink and different shades of blue. It’s not important to cut strips of the exactly the same width. Once you cut them, place them aside for later.

Fold the white cardstock in half. Press only on the middle part. 

Using a pencil, draw half of a cross. 

Cut the cross out from the middle, making sure the frame remains uncut. 

Take a second piece of white cardstock and place the cross frame on top. Trace the cross on the bottom cardstock.  

Apply glue on the white cardstock and glue paper strips over the cross outline, from lighter to darker. Keep gluing until you cover the cross outline completely.

Apply glue to the cardstock with the cross shape cut out. Make sure to add the glue to the side with the pencil markings. 

Press the cross frame and glue it over the paper with paper strips. Cut out extra paper strips to finish.

• White Scrapbook Paper (Scrap)

How to make this easy Easter craft

Start by outlining a cross shape onto a white paper scrap. Cut it out and put it aside for later. 

Stack papers in sunset colors and cut out paper strips freehand (yellow, red, orange, pink). 

Repeat the same with blue hue papers and cut out several paper strips of each color. 

Place black construction paper on the table and start gluing paper strips to create a sunset background. 

Use the cross template you created earlier to outline and cut out crosses from black construction paper. We need 3 crosses. You can make the cross in the middle a bit larger than the other two.

Cut out a piece of black paper to use as the mountain on the bottom of the sunset scene. Glue it and the 3 crosses on top of the mount.
