This simple snow globe craft is perfect for young kids. Not only is it easy, but it sneaks in important skills.

Snow globes are a fun winter craft. This version uses contact paper and construction paper to create a fun suncatcher-style project.

Creating your own snow globe will require many parts. Something clear for the globe, Something for the base of the snow globe, something cute to put inside, and fake snow.

When creating paper snow globes, most of these parts use different colors of paper, instead of things like clear plastic plates.

This photo craft uses important skills for 4-year-olds. It incorporates skills like basic circle shapes, scissor skills, and fine motor skills.

Tips for creating this holiday craft

These snow globes are very simple. But here are some tips to help you along the way.

To speed up this craft, you can punch the paper circles ahead of time.
If you don’t have time to take pictures, use a quick green triangle for a Christmas tree.
Instead of dots, find a snowflake paper punch or use confetti.

Easy Snow Globe Project

This snow globe craft is great for working on fine motor skills and makes a wonderful keepsake!

Active Time 15 minutes

Total Time 15 minutes

Difficulty Easy

Materials

Cardstock - White and Blues
Contact Paper
Picture or Drawing (see step 1)
Tape

Tools

Hole Punch
Scissors
Circle Template (lid, glass, anything circle!)
Paint Pen or Marker
Pen
Glue

Instructions

You will need to have a photograph or a drawing to place "in" your snow globe. Tilting their head back and arms out looks great! Just like they are going to catch the falling snow.
Roll out some contact paper and cut a piece that is wide enough to fit the circle template. Make sure the circle template is big enough to cover the picture with space around it.
Fold the contact paper in half and then trace a circle.
Cut out the circle. This should leave you with 2 identical contact paper circles. Set aside until later.
Cut out the image.
Start punching holes out of the blue papers.
Peel the backing off one of the contact paper circles. Attach the circle, sticky side up, to your work surface with tape.
Place the picture down onto the contact paper. With the backside towards you.
Start placing the blue dots all over the contact paper.
If you need more snow you can punch them right over your project!
When you have as much snow as you want carefully remove the tape.
Peel the backing off the second contact paper circle and carefully place it sticky side down over the first circle.
Smooth it out as much as you can. A few bubbles won't hurt!
Cut a scrap off of one of the blue papers to create a stand. Attach it with a small amount of glue.
Use a pen to write on your stand.
Display anywhere!

Create these fun and easy heart shaped suncatchers. Perfect for Valentine's Day!

Prep Time 5 minutes

Active Time 10 minutes

Materials

Contact Paper
Ink Pad
Yarn/String (optional)

Tools

Pencils with New Erasers
Washable Marker
Tape
Scissors
Hole Punch (optional)

Instructions

Roll out a piece of contact paper and draw your hearts on the clear side of the paper. You can do one large heart, a few small hearts, or a combination of both!
Peel off the backing of your contact paper and lay it sticky side up on your work surface. Use tape to secure it down.
Using the eraser side of your pencils dab from the ink pad onto the contact paper. Use a different eraser with each color if possible to keep your colors from mixing on the pad.
Encourage them to fill up the hearts as much as they can even going over the edges a bit with the dots.
Once the hearts are filled place the second sheet of contact paper on top of your design, sticky sides together.
Press out any bubbles and cut out your hearts.
You can leave them just like this or punch a hole and hang with yarn/string.

If you’re creating with a large group of kids, you can roll the contact paper across the workspace. Then cut smaller top pieces and put each child’s name on them before cutting them out.
Use the grid on the back of the contact paper to help you draw the cross shape.

Start by drawing a cross onto the clear side of your contact paper.
Peel off the backing of the contact paper
Tape it down to your surface, sticky side up.
Press the pencil eraser onto the ink pad and then onto the cross. Have the kids aim for the inside of the cross shape.
Change between colors until your cross is full. Make sure that they go all the way out to the edges.
Place a second piece of contact paper on top. Sticky side to sticky side.
Press the pieces together to remove any air bubbles.
Finish up by cutting out your cross suncatcher craft!
