Several preschool classrooms have a day that celebrates a certain color. This red day art and craft idea is perfect for any day that you are learning about the color red. Not only can you use this simple craft to learn about colors, but it’s a great scissor activity or triangle craft.

Below is our step by step tutorial for creating this red color craft. Feel free to print it for easy reference.

Scissor Practice Red Triangle

Print

Work on developing scissor skills while talking about shapes and colors with this fun craft!

Active Time 20 minutes

Total Time 20 minutes

Difficulty Easy

Materials

• White Paper
• Red Paper

Tools

• Pencil
• Scissors
• Ruler
• Glue Stick

Instructions

1. Fold the white piece of paper in half lengthwise and then cut into 2 equal pieces.
2. Using a ruler, create a triangle on one of the pieces of paper.
3. Pinch and snip a slit in the center of the triangle shape.
4. Cut the triangle out of the center of the paper.
5. Cut strips of your colored paper. You can mix shades and sizes of strips.
6. Place your cut triangle on top of the second half of paper and trace.
7. Glue strips of red paper to cover your traced triangle.
8. Glue the cut triangle on top, with the pencil side down.
9. Trim off any paper strips sticking out.
