If you follow along you know that I am a self proclaimed craft hoarder. I tend to hold onto craft supplies for way too long in the hopes that I might find a good use for them down the road. I bought a pack of doilies for V’s first birthday party. I used them to decorate her giant V. Since then I haven’t touched them. Until now…. Check out this fun doily craft!
You could make these for so many different fun decorative reasons.
I wish I would have thought of them for V’s Pearls & Lace Party!
What You Need For your Doily Craft:
- Doilies… you figured that right, one per rose bud.
- Twisty ties. You could also use a rubber band or even string.
- Water color
- Paint brush
Making your Rose Bud Doilies:
Start by removing the center of your doily. Then go along and make little cuts around the edge. This will allow for better pedals later. Then start rolling it up.
Hold the base tight as you roll it up. Do Not worry about the pedals at this point.
Secure with your twisty tie (or rubber band etc)
Now you can fluff down your pedals.
Just lightly bend them down and out until you achieve a rose bud you like!
Now take and lightly brush the tips with the water color of your choice!
Use a light touch. You can Always add more!
These were so fun to make!
I found myself making extras just because…
I will find a fun occasion to use them, but for now my leftover doilies have been put to good use!
Do you have any craft hoarding friends?
I bet they have some doilies in their stash…
These would be very cute in a vase in a little girls bedroom.
