We through an elegant lace and pearls birthday party for V’s 1st birthday. Kids birthday party ideas are numerous, but after having boyish birthday parties for 6 years, I was thrilled to finally throw a girl’s birthday!
Lace and Pearls Birthday Party
Being me, or anyone normal these days, I searched Pinterest high and low for inspiration. I wanted a cake made with clean ingredients, easy inexpensive decorations, and fun finger foods. I would have plenty of pink and plenty of frills. It would be perfect… With a little Modge Podge, a little love, and surprisingly a little amount of money the decorations were done. The food was a whole different story…

Elegant First Birthday Party Decorations
Just some paint and doilies here.I made some tissue paper into flowers. Fairly simple and quick decoration. I draped inexpensive beaded necklaces in between the flowers. The V is cut out of the side of her bouncer box… I had saved the box for “something” in the garage for about 9 months… I painted it pink and Modge Podged on doilies.I used the scraps from the big flowers to make some smaller paper flowers here and there. Some more of the cheap pearls on the table. The lace I had from a few scarves my grandmother used to wear. I’m sure you can get small pieces at a fabric store. Definitely spruced up the cheap plastic tablecloths underneath.
Simple Lace Party Food

Hummus with Tomato and Cucumber ~ Smoked Salmon with Cream Cheese and Dill
Elegant cake with no artificial anything.
I made her cake using all organic ingredients. I also made the frosting from scratch using dehydrated strawberry powder to color the frosting pale pink. The color wasn’t as vibrant as I had hoped, but the flavor was Amazing!!
