Can you believe that it’s almost time for the kids to go back to school?

We’re putting the finishing touches on our summer break and getting our lists together so we can go back to school shopping.

The thing that always sneaks up on me is that cute sign that so many kids hold up. You know the one. the “First Day of ______” signs.

Last year, little miss held up a handwritten sign. And that worked. But I wanted something cuter.

I also wanted the sign to show off her skills and style. So we created a printable sign that is also a coloring page.

This year, my kids will both be holding a first day of school sign.

All you have to do is print it, add their grade, and then let them color in the images.

Then try not to tear up while taking about 3,000 pictures of each of your kids. (This may be the hardest part of the whole printable!)

Printable Space Theme

We have a very old (Pluto’s a planet old) book about space that V has been into lately. It’s a cute Little Golden Book that says “this book belongs to the Twitchetts” inside. A gift from Grandma that will always be cherished, and read, even if Pluto is included.

We don’t get too deep into space conversations, but we can at least play around with some of the planets! We created this fun little printable to help spark an early love for space and all the planets in our solar system.

Setting up your space-themed games

Print off your game pieces. For a longer-lasting game, you can use cardstock. For one time use, plain printer paper will work. Just cut out all of your game pieces and you’re ready to play!

First, we just mixed them up on the table and put them back together. Just like eight tiny two-piece puzzles.

Once we did this a couple of times she was ready to take it up a notch.

On to a game of memory! Flip over all your pieces and flip them over 2 at a time until you find a match!

We even decided to place them in order… along with a fast little construction paper sun.

For now, she can point out Earth on demand. Mars (the red one) and Jupiter (the big one) were also quick for her to remember. We had a lot of fun playing with our little planets. They are quick to throw in your drawer for a quick boredom buster when you need one!

Get your child ready for the new school year with these fun printables.  Little Miss is about to start kindergarten.  I don’t know who’s more anxious.  Me or her…I’ve been doing lots of research on the subject and kept finding these fun printables that make the first day of school just a little more exciting and little less stressful.  I wanted to share them with you.  Even if it’s not your child’s FIRST, first day of school, there is something for you. If there is one thing I can always fall back on with my little one it’s coloring. Since we have been loving all things rainbow lately why not create a fun rainbow booklet! Just print, fold, & cut. You can assemble them quickly then pass them off to your little one to fill in the pages! We have made about 5 of our Dad books for Father’s Day this year… and we are catching up quickly with these fun rainbow booklets.

Supplies for your Rainbow Booklet

• Free Printable.
• Rainbow Colors. Markers, pencils, or crayons.

How to fold your paper booklet:

You can watch the video to see how to assemble the book, or head here for picture directions.

Once you have your book assembled hand it over! Your little one can start by coloring the front rainbow or wait and leave that for the finishing touch. Each page inside is a prompt to draw something of each color of the rainbow.

When they are finished be ready to have them read you their color story. I know I have heard V’s quite a few times. It’s fun to see what they think of for each color. From yellow lollipops, blue blueberries, and really curly snakes, they will have fun creating this rainbow booklet all on their own.

You could also take this booklet outside and find things in nature to tape to each page!

As you know even if we are learning we like it to be fun. We created these dice with this in mind. As soon as your little one can color you can play this game!

Setting Up Your Dice Games:

Print off your dice. If you want them to last longer print them on cardstock. Cut them out and fold along all of the gray lines. Attach together using tape or glue (whatever you have handy). Grab another sheet of paper and colors. You can use anything you have… markers, crayons, or colored pencils. You will need red, blue, and yellow.

Playing Your Dice Games For Kids:

Have your little one roll the dice. If you have 2 kids they can each pick a dice to roll. Draw on your sheet what you roll. If they are old enough to do this on their own that’s it! Let them roll over and over creating a fun design on their page. If they are younger you can outline the shapes for them to color in.Make sure to count the dots on the dice together. If they are close to drawing the shapes, but aren’t quite there, draw the shape with a pencil and let them try to trace the shapes before coloring.

No matter what age your kids are they can find a way to play!

New Year’s Eve with Kids

Now our little ones don’t always make it to the countdown… sometimes it is hard to make it there ourselves. However, we do like to have a few fun things for them to do. This printable was created with kids of all ages in mind. Whether they get into every tiny detail or color over with a broad marker stroke the bold black lines will help give it a fun look they are sure to be proud of! (NOTE: this picture is from last year’s coloring page. But the 2018 free coloring page is just as fun!)

Since the printable is free you can print off as many as you like! I always find coloring is relaxing and this design is fun for older children and adults too!

As we move into a new year this printable is dated… but, we have some more fun below to help you ring in the new year!

Printable Autumn Crown!

This printable is great because it can be used so many different ways! We thought of 3, which we will share below, but I am sure you could think of more!

You can make your Printable Autumn Crown sparkle!

Just trace the design with white glue and sprinkle on some fall colored glitter. Yes, I said it glitter… while it isn’t our first choice for crafting an occasional addition of shimmer outside can’t hurt. Also, V loved this crown!!

Yes, I said outside. We did the whole craft outside including her playing the “Queen of Autumn”. Throw down a brown paper bag, take a deep breath, and let them use the glitter. If I survived you can too…

Still not convinced on the glitter… we don’t blame you!

Use real leaves for your Printable Autumn Crown!

This is fun because you can search for the perfect leaves first! We will be doing this again once we have more leaves to choose from. For now, we had limited options. This didn’t stop V from picking the “perfect” leaves for decorating. Toddlers love to use white glue and she got to make 3 good sized blobs of it! We topped it with our leaves and let it dry! We love this nature look. Can you imagine once you can add some red and orange leaves too?

Color your Printable Autumn Crown!

Of course, you can never go wrong with throwing out some crayons or markers and letting your little one go to town! All that is left is to cut them out and tape them to size!No matter how you jazz them up they are a fun craft for your little ones and they will lead to some fun imaginative play!

Just like all of our free printables you have to be a subscriber to get them right to your inbox. You can print these off over and over again. Cut them ahead of time and just do one or two… or print off multiple sheets when your kiddos have a party or sleepover!

Now there are a few ways you could put these together. You could simply tape them on, but we have a better option if you want them to be able to take them on and off!

What you need to make your DIY Paper Bracelets:

• Your Bracelet Printable. Pick from the 2 designs or use both!
• Cardstock (thicker weighted paper)
• Paper cutter or scissors.
• Sticky back Velcro Squares or tape.

Assembling your DIY Paper Bracelets:

Print out your bracelets. (Make sure to select the fit to page option when you print)Then color away!!

You can cut them apart before or after you color. Once you are done you can wrap it around your little one’s wrist and trim so there is about an inch that overlaps. These can fit some adults too. Cut your sticky back Velcro strips in half. This will leave your scissors a little sticky… just use rubbing alcohol to get the leftover gunk off. Place the scratchy side of the Velcro on the picture side of the bracelet. This way if the bracelet doesn’t completely overlap it won’t scratch their little wrists.Next place the soft side on the backside on the opposite end of the bracelet.

Put them on and show them off!! They can make these DIY paper bracelets for themselves, friends, family, even you might get to keep one!  If you’re looking for more fun printables, check out this list of free printable activities for preschoolers.

Summer is beginning to creep up on us.  And with it comes the family vacations.  We look forward to all of the fun memories, the pictures, the Facebook updates, and the car rides…wait the car rides aren’t the fun part…  The car ride is the long part that leads up to the fun part…and the even longer part after all the fun and it’s time to go home!

Finding fun travel games.

It can be a challenge.  Especially if you’re traveling for hours upon hours to get to an amazing destination.  They’re anxious to get there and they are stuck.  We’ve shared some of our tips for traveling with the toddlers.  But what about the bigger kids?  Sure you can toss them an iPad…but what happens when the battery dies!!! I will tell you what happens… “I’m Bored” starts to become the go-to phrase for the rest of the ride.

You can play in pairs. One person calls out what they see, while the other crosses them off the sheet. This might be helpful if you are traveling with a younger crowd.

The whole car can play together as a team.

Or it can be a race to the finish…who can cross off the whole board first.

No matter how you play, a fun round of road trip bingo will help to kill some of the time trapped in the car.
