Paper Witch

Last year, during the Halloween season, we created quite a few fun flying, or climbing, activities. They were all such a hit with the little ones we had to add to the bunch!

This construction paper witch is a great Halloween craft for kids because when they are done creating they can start playing and she can hang around all season.

Supplies for your Halloween witch decoration:

  • Construction Paper. Green, Black, & Brown.
  • Scissors.
  • Glue Stick.
  • Yarn.
  • Hole Punch.
  • Cardboard Tube.
  • 2 Beads.
  • Black Marker.

How to make a witch kids craft

Here is the step by step instructions for creating a paper witch. See them all in action in the video below!

Start by creating all of your shapes. Your child can definitely create all of these shapes with a little direction or you can simply draw the shapes on a piece of paper and walk away.

In green, you need one larger circle for the witch’s head and 2 smaller ones for her hands. This paper witch craftivity is so much fun! Using simple supplies, your child will create a Halloween craft that can make their imagination fly.

In brown, you simply need a broom handle and a broom. For the broom bristles just cut out an oval, cut the long ways to make bristles, and then trim the edges. Last, with the black paper, you need a long skinny oval, two triangles one with the top trimmed off, and hair. This paper witch craftivity is so much fun! Using simple supplies, your child will create a Halloween craft that can make their imagination fly.

To make the hair you will cut two long rectangles. Then make 2 cuts almost to the top.

Take each of the hair pieces and accordion fold it and let it go to give it some fun texture. This paper witch craftivity is so much fun! Using simple supplies, your child will create a Halloween craft that can make their imagination fly.

How to make a flying witch craftivity

To make your flying device, use a hole punch at both ends to add two holes to your cardboard tube. Then press down 2 of the holes so they face the ceiling.This paper witch craftivity is so much fun! The witch will only fly as far up as your kiddos wingspan. Cut a piece of yarn about 6 inches longer than their wingspan.

Take the yarn and tie a bead at one end. Lace the yarn into the tube, on an unfolded end, up and out the top, back down, and out the side. Then tie on your second bead. Black Construction Paper Quilling Spiders

We are having fun with all of our friendly construction paper spiders! Whether they are bouncing or climbing they have been a hit in our home.

We decided that we wanted to use one of our favorite techniques from Construction Paper Crafts for Kids. It’s perfect for little hands to take the first steps towards quilling!

Supplies for quilled construction paper spiders:

Create your Quilled Halloween Craft

Check out these simple step by step instructions, to create your quilling spiders, and then watch the quick video at the end to see it all in action!

Start by cutting your black construction paper into strips. A paper cutter makes it easier to keep them all even. If you want the legs to be thinner, you can cut a few skinny strips too. Just set the legs to the side for later.

Take one strip and use a dab of glue, at one end, to create a circle and glue it to your green paper.Construction Paper quilling spiders using black construction paper.

Use your craft stick to roll up a strip of your paper. Construction Paper quilling spiders using black construction paper.

Holding the paper tight, dab one end into the glue and then place inside your circle. It will pop open a bit, and that’s ok!  (in fact my daughter loves watching this process!) Repeat this step until the circle is full. Construction Paper quilling spiders using black construction paper.

Start by punching 2 circles and cutting a long skinny strip out of your black construction paper. Next, cut a half inch wide strip from the length of the white. We love creating crafts that you can play with after! We have quite a few of these climbing spiders hanging on our windows in our home.

It is always the first thing my daughter shows her friends when they come over.  It’s a fun and cute Halloween craft that is perfect for fall!

How to make a Halloween spider

Start with creating an oval and 8 legs from your black construction paper.  The oval needs to be large enough to cover your paper tube.Create climbing construction papers spiders using black construction paper. A fun Halloween kids craft that they can play with when they're finished!

Punch 4 holes in the paper tube.  2 holes, across from each other, on both sides.

Cut a long piece of string/yarn.  You can make your string as long as you want, however, the spider will only climb as far as your child can pull the strings apart.Create climbing construction papers spiders using black construction paper. Use a small piece of tape to create a “needle” on one end of the string.  (check out the video below to see how we did it.)

String on one bead and pull all it all the way to one end. Then tie a knot around the bead.

Thread the string through both holes on one end of the tube and then back through the other side.

Hang him from the top of the string. Make sure it’s low enough for your kiddo to reach it.
