Giant Paper Flowers

Nothing beats a fast fun craft you can do with everyday craft supplies. Our weather has been teasing spring so flower crafts are a must in our home.

You are going to love making these giant paper flowers with your little one! My daughter loved how big these flowers turned out. She walked around proudly showing them off. Little does she know that she was actually building her fine motor skills while she created her masterpiece!

Supplies for construction paper flowers:

• Construction Paper. Green for the stem, one color sheet for petals, & one background color.
• Scissors or Paper Cutter.
• Glue Stick.
• Hole Punch.
• Pipecleaner. We love these glitter ones!
• Pencil.

How to make construction paper flowers

Check out these step by step instructions for making giant paper flowers. Then see it all in action in the video below!

Start by drawing out some light lines on your colored paper to divide the sheet into 7-8 strips. You will also need one green strip for your stem.

Let your little one cut the strips. Punch a hole at both ends of the colored strips and at one end of the green.

Fold your pipe cleaner to create an L shape. Add your green strip and then put each petal on.

Next, add a little glue in the center. Take the end of each petal strip and string it onto the pipe cleaner, creating petals.

Add a bit more glue before stringing the last petal. Take the leftover pipe cleaner and twist it into a spiral.

Flip to the back and bend the pipe cleaner to hold tight. Cut off any extra pipe cleaner. Run your glue stick down the top 2/3 of the back of the stem.

Flip over and attach the stem to your paper at an angle with the stem hanging off a bit. Fold up the piece of stem that is hanging over the paper and crease to create a leaf. Add a little more glue and press down.
