We have fun melted crayon turkeys and fine motor turkeys that we have shared with you in the past. However, these construction paper turkeys just have an extra wow factor to them. Everyone seems to like them the best! If you love the look of these make sure to check out the Shamrocks I did for St. Patrick’s day last year. They are where I got the inspiration for these!
Watch this quick video to see how it is done! More pictures and supplies below.
What you need for your Construction Paper Turkey Craft:
- Construction paper. A standard multipack will have all of the colors you need. 1 sheet red, orange, yellow, & brown.
- Paper cutter. (Not necessary, but definitely cuts down on the time)
- White glue.
- Googly eyes. (Or white paper and black marker)
- A clothespin.
- Pen or marker.
Making your Construction Paper Turkey Craft:
Start by cutting your red, orange, & yellow construction paper into 1-inch strips. Then break them into 5 groups of 5, alternating colors in whichever way you like. Next, at one end of the stack, stagger the ends down about an inch each color. Then cut the ends even. This will leave them all at different lengths. Bring all of the ends together in a tear drop shape and staple. Repeat 4 more times. Creating 5 tear drop shaped feathers. Next, place a dab of white glue between each feather near the staples and staple them from both sides. Secure with a clothespin until dry. In the mean time take your brown paper and draw out a turkey body and cut it out. Then, add on a couple of googly eyes. Next, using your scraps, make a beak and a wattle and attach with a small dab of white glue. Once the tail is dry attach your body with glue and you’re done! These are so much fun!
