3D Paper Shamrock Template

This year, for St. Patrick’ Day, we wanted to create a fun decoration that could be made by a group of kids or a whole family. We decided that this fun Shamrock Mobile would be perfect, and with our new 3D paper shamrock template, everyone could easily create their own personalized shamrock!

Supplies for your shamrock mobile

• Printable Template.
• White Printer Paper.
• Scissors.
• Glue Stick.
• Crayons, Markers, or Colored Pencils.
• Rainbow Yarn. (Any color will work, but a rainbow is a fun touch.)
• Stick. You could also use a wooden dowl.

How to make a 3D St Patrick’s Day craft

Check out the step by step instructions for using our 3d paper shamrock template.  Then watch the fun video below!

Start by printing out your shamrocks onto plain white computer paper. You can choose a style to color in or we have some with green in them already. Decorate to your heart’s content. You can color inside the shamrock, around the outside, or both! You can use anywhere from 3-6 circles for each sphere. You decide based on your child’s age and skill levels. When you are done decorating, cut out each circle.

If your children are even older they can cut the actual shamrock! Fold your shamrocks in half with the design towards the inside.

Hold them up to the light if you need so you can line them up as close to the middle as possible. Then glue each of the half circles together until they are in a stack.

Take a piece of yarn and tie it in a double knot. Add glue on the folded edges of the shamrocks and then lay your yarn across.

Then secure the sides together with a bit more glue.

When you are done creating all of your 3D shamrocks you can tie each of them to a stick.

Pour Painted Shamrock

Since we have been pour painting on everything in sight, we were not going to pass up a fun chance to do something for St. Patrick’s Day! We decided to create a fun shamrock mobile to hang around for the holiday!

Supplies for these fun shamrock decorations

• Cardboard or Wooden Shamrocks.
• Acrylic Paints. Green, Gold, & White.
• Pouring Cups.
• Medicine Cup.
• Craft Sticks.
• Pouring Medium. Or create your own DIY medium using 2 parts white glue 1 part water.
• Parchment Paper.
• Hole Punch.
• Hemp.
• A Stick.

How to make a fun St Patrick’s Day Mobile

Check out these step by step instructions for creating a pour painted shamrock.  Then see it all in action in the video below!

Start by cutting out a few shamrocks from a thick piece of cardboard.

You will want this from a packing box, not a cereal box. Or you can just buy wooden shamrocks too! Prep your paints by mixing in at a 1:1 ratio of paint and pouring medium. Now start stacking your paints in your medicine cup. Go back and forth between the colors.

Then pour the stacked paint over your shamrocks!

Tilt them from side to side to get that paint moving.

You can drip them from one to another, give them a little nudge using a craft stick, or even do a second pour if you need!

When you are happy with your shamrocks place them on a piece of parchment paper to dry. Once they are dry, punch holes in the top of your shamrocks and secure to a stick with hemp.

Glitter Shamrocks

We are seeing green and sharing some of our favorite St Patrick’s day crafts for kids. From construction paper crafts to naturally green snacks we have a lot of fun St. Patty’s day ideas. Today I am sharing an idea inspired by our rainbow hearts. These are fun mostly mess free glitter shamrocks!

I don’t like to use glitter often… it is one of those supplies that can put me over the edge. I don’t like to clean it up. If glitter is used we usually move our crafting outdoors, but this time of year that isn’t always possible. To make our glitter shamrocks we found a mostly mess free way around it!

Supplies for your St Patrick’s Day Art:

• Colored Glitter Glue.
• A Shamrock Outline Printed on Cardstock. (Find one using a quick google image search)
• A Plain Piece of Cardstock. We used white, but you could play with other colors.
• Cotton Swabs.
• Scissors

How to make mostly mess free St. Patrick’s Day Crafts for Kids:

Print out your shamrock and then cut it out from the inside, leaving the edges intact.

Tape down your base piece of paper to your surface and then tape down your shamrock paper on top. This way it won’t move while your little one is working.

Take your glitter glue and outline your shamrock. You can use green with some gold accents, rainbow glitter, or any combination your little one wants to try!

Using the cotton swabs, pull the glitter towards the middle of the shamrock. Work your way around the edges until all of the glitter glue has been pulled inside. You can do a second time around if you want to add more color. I did another round on our larger one, but not the smaller ones.

Peel back the tape and remove your top sheet of paper to reveal your beautiful glitter shamrock!

Let dry completely and then display through the holiday!

Rainbow Colored Paper Shamrocks

Like many crafts and activities we do, they often start as one thing and evolve into another.

This craft started as a paper rainbow, then it morphed into this cute Rainbow Heart. Before we knew it, we had these fun rainbow paper shamrocks and we have become obsessed!

This rainbow craft is actually super simple to create and your kids will love to make them! You can use them to decorate your house for St Patrick’s Day or to give to loved ones!

And, since they are made with construction paper, they are inexpensive enough to make with a group of kids.

How to make shamrocks out of construction paper

Print

This fun 3D paper craft brings plenty of wow-factor, yet is easy enough for kids.

Active Time 20 minutes

Total Time 20 minutes

Difficulty Medium

Materials

• Construction Paper - One piece of each rainbow color. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, & Purple.
• A Button

Tools

• Paper Cutter
• Stapler
• Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

Instructions

1. Start by measuring across your construction paper. Make dashes every inch.  Most construction paper is 9″ wide which works out perfect to create your 8 leaf pieces and one stem. 
2. Make sure your strips are stacked in a rainbow order with the Green on the outside. (Green, Blue, Purple, Red, Orange, Yellow)
3. Slide each color back about an inch and then cut all the ends off even with the green. This will make each color a different length. Green longest all of the way to Yellow as the shortest. Staple the end where all of the colors are even.
4. Starting with the Yellow, fold each color down to the bottom creating a teardrop.
5. Staple the ends together. They should form a teardrop shape. Then attach two teardrops together to create a heart.
6. Repeat this 3 more times to create a shamrock, 4 more times to create a 4-leaf clover.  Then on the last teardrop trim off the arch to create the stem. Line up your leaves and stem and squeeze hot glue down the center. Add a Button in the middle, to hide the seam, and hold it all together.
7. Then flip and squeeze some hot glue down the back center. Then you are done!
