<p>We were iced in this weekend and I was in serious need of a chocolate fix.  I didn&#8217;t have my normal stash of ice-cream and the only chocolate I could find were some leftover chocolate chips from our Christmas cookies.  The kiddos were also becoming more and more stir-crazy, so I wanted to make a snack that wasn&#8217;t super high in sugar.  So I reached for my go-to healthy cookie for kids and gave them a twist.</p>
<h3>Ingredients for Chocolate Oatmeal Thumbprint Cookies</h3>
<ul>
<li>1 Ripe Banana</li>
<li>1/2 Cup Oatmeal (I use quick oats)</li>
<li>1 Tablespoon Oil (I used Sunflower oil, melted coconut oil also works well)</li>
<li>1 1/2 teaspoons Honey</li>
<li>1/2 teaspoon cinnamon</li>
<li>1/4 teaspoon coconut oil</li>
<li>1/2 teaspoon chocolate chips</li>
</ul>
<h3>Making the Oatmeal Banana Cookies</h3>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Finding the perfect toddler snacks</h2>



<p>We have switched full tilt into toddler mode and the taste buds are becoming pickier.</p>



<p>It has been hard, even with the best organic snacks, to keep an excess of sugar out of V’s diet.</p>



<p>I was looking to create an organic toddler snack that I could pass off as a cookie. Something that I could make quick and fresh with minimal prep and with healthy organic ingredients.</p>

<p>We love these delicious cookies. They have a nice chewy texture and are so simple to make, they are even gluten-free!</p>



<p>We started with the recipes from some classic cookies. Then we started to experiment. We made at least 10 batches playing around with the recipe. Every batch was good, but we found what we like best.</p>



<p>These cookies have just a hint of sweetness from the honey and a little bit of spice from some cinnamon. Plus they are a fantastic way to use up a ripe banana.</p>



<p>They do not contain any white sugar, all-purpose flour, eggs, applesauce or peanut butter.</p>



<p>All of these simple ingredients are organic, except the honey, which I buy locally and is not USDA Certified.</p>

<p>Spoon out in Tablespoon heaps onto a baking sheet. Patiently wait while you bake oatmeal cookies at 350 degrees for about 25mins.</p>

<p>Then enjoy! It will only make about 9 cookies. If you have any leftovers store&nbsp;them in an air-tight container… that is a big&nbsp;<strong>IF</strong>… V and I usually split the batch! This is OK, since they are full of healthy ingredients.</p>



<p>Although labeled as toddler snacks you can obviously share with the rest of the family! &nbsp;These make perfect preschool and after-school snacks!</p>



<p>You can easily double the recipe. As with all of our snack posts you can mix it up too! Add in chocolate chips, raisins, or craisins.</p>
