Paper Witch

Last year, during the Halloween season, we created quite a few fun flying, or climbing, activities. They were all such a hit with the little ones we had to add to the bunch!

This construction paper witch is a great Halloween craft for kids because when they are done creating they can start playing and she can hang around all season.

• Construction Paper. Green, Black, & Brown.
• Scissors.
• Glue Stick.
• Yarn.
• Hole Punch.
• Cardboard Tube.
• 2 Beads.
• Black Marker.

How to make a witch kids craft

Here is the step by step instructions for creating a paper witch. See them all in action in the video below!

Start by creating all of your shapes. Your child can definitely create all of these shapes with a little direction or you can simply draw the shapes on a piece of paper and walk away.

In green, you need one larger circle for the witch’s head and 2 smaller ones for her hands.

In brown, you simply need a broom handle and a broom. For the broom bristles just cut out an oval, cut the long ways to make bristles, and then trim the edges.

Last, with the black paper, you need a long skinny oval, two triangles one with the top trimmed off, and hair.

To make the hair you will cut two long rectangles. Then make 2 cuts almost to the top.

Take each of the hair pieces and accordion fold it and let it go to give it some fun texture.

Now it’s time to assemble. Glue down the hair and then the hat.

Add on her body, the broom handle, and bristles.

Then glue on her hands. Now, using a black marker, give your witch a face!

You could stop the project here if you like, but we want to make her fly!

How to make a flying witch craftivity

To make your flying device, use a hole punch at both ends to add two holes to your cardboard tube. Then press down 2 of the holes so they face the ceiling.

The witch will only fly as far up as your kiddos wingspan. Cut a piece of yarn about 6 inches longer than their wingspan.

Take the yarn and tie a bead at one end. Lace the yarn into the tube, on an unfolded end, up and out the top, back down, and out the side. Then tie on your second bead.

Now simply glue your witch, hat side up, onto the tube.

To make her fly simply tape the center of your string to the wall. Your little one can hold the beads and pull them apart. See her soar in this quick video!
