Ombre Handprint Art

My daughter has gone from a baby to a toddler in the blink of an eye. Just the same, my little boy is quickly becoming a little man. Saving these precious moments in time is so hard to do. I wanted to come up with a fun keepsake craft for them to make. There has always been something about saving their little hands in time that I have loved, which inspired these ombré handprint art pieces. 

This project is perfect for kids as young as toddlers to big kids! If a messy type of craft gives you a bit of anxiety, you don’t want to miss our tips for painting with toddlers.

J was able to do this art project with minimal guidance… which was a big gulp, he didn’t need mom’s help. At least V still needs a little assistance, which made me feel good. I love when the kid’s art is actually something you really want to hang in your home and treasure forever.

Toddler canvas art supplies:

• Canvas
• White paint and one color of your choice

How to make this toddler keepsake:

Start by taping off your letters. Rub the edges down. 

When mixing the paint, start with a good amount of white. Only add a little bit of the color. Then have your kiddo use their hands as a stamp across the top. 

Add a little more color and do the next row, more color, next row, etc. Work your way down to a nice dark color. 

Let your canvas dry completely before removing the tape. Pull slowly and try to remember which piece of tape is on top. This will make your life easier!! 

Then enjoy your ombré handprint art creation! Their hands will Never be this small again!

I hung mine over my art desk; because let’s face it, their little hands inspire me.
