Tree-Shaped Christmas Ornament

We had so much fun making the glittery stick snowflakes we had to make trees too! These are so fun to make!

Yes, they do use glitter, but it’s Christmas season so a little glitter is ok…. right?

• Wet Foam Block.

How to make Christmas ornaments using sticks

Start by cutting or breaking your sticks. 

You will want to make them smaller and smaller to create a tree shape. 

Then cut your wet foam so your sticks hang over the edges a bit. 

If your paint is thicker thin it out will a little bit of water first. Then dip both sides of each stick and place back in the foam.

Tilt your paint a bit to get up the sides more if you need. 

Now over your paper bowl add glitter to both sides of your sticks. 

Make sure to do this when the paint is still a bit wet. 

Give your sticks plenty of time to dry. using hot glue assemble your tree. 

Add clear string for hanging with a bit of glue.

Your kids will LOVE creating these fun tree-shaped Christmas ornaments. From collecting the sticks to giving them as gifts.

Sparkling Patriotic Rocks

Rock hunting and hiding is in full swing! For Memorial Day, our area had a big picnic and asked for lots of patriotic rocks for the kids to hunt. You know I helped with that project!

We really love to create fun new stone painting ideas for you to try with your little ones! These are perfect for the kiddos or for any rock painting beginner!

Use them to decorate around the home or leave them out to brighten someone’s day. This stone painting idea is perfect for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Veterans Day, Flag Day, or any other time you want to show off your USA love.

• Painters Tape.
• Foam Brushes.
• Paint.
• Mod Podge.
• Glitter.
• Clear Sealant. (we recommend this kind)

How to make glitter painted rocks

Check out these step by step instructions for creating patriotic rocks. Then you can see it all in action in the video below!

If you have a light enough color (near white) rock or stone this is perfect for making these rocks. If not go ahead and base coat your stone white and give it plenty of time to dry.

Use your painters tape to cover up the parts that you do not want to be blue.

Use your foam brush and paint the rock. Try to make your brush strokes full away from the painters tape, not towards it. 

This will help keep the line crisp. Once your paint has dried peel up the tape. Now decide where you want your glitter. Add a new piece of tape to section it off.

Cover the space with Mod Podge and then cover the area with glitter. Do this over a lid or piece of paper to catch the loose pieces.

Set the wet rock aside aside and let it dry.

Once dry, remove the painters tape.

Using a roll of tape you can remove any stray pieces of glitter from your rock.

You can also touch up any paint if the tape pulls any off. You can add words or leave them plain.

No matter what they will be beautiful.

Make sure to seal with a few coats of clear sealant to help hold all that glitter in place.

Firework Art

When the weather gets nice you start to think about all the fun summer will bring! Cookouts, pool days, and of course one of my favorites, fireworks!

If you love fireworks as much as me or are just looking for a fun patriotic craft four your kiddos, you will want to try this fun art project.

I found a way to create beautiful glittery fireworks, without all the mess that usually comes with the glitter!

Supplies for mess-free glitter fireworks

• Cardstock.
• Glitter glue.
• Washable Markers. Colors to match the glitter you choose.
• Large Hole Punch. You can use scissors too.
• Cotton Swabs.
• Painters Tape.

How to make this fun patriotic art project

Start by punching out a circle for each firecracker you want to create. Secure them to your piece of cardstock using a bit of painters tape.

Next, take your marker and color a few circles around the inside of your circle. Then add the matching glitter glue.

Using a cotton swab, pull the glitter off of the circle out onto the paper in streaks.

Creating a beautiful firework shape. The glue will pull a bit of the color from the marker as well making them show even better. You can even pull a trail down the paper to show where it shot off from.

Use a separate cotton swab for each color. Once all of your fireworks are done carefully remove the circle center and you’re done!

Your kids will love how they shimmer and sparkle, you will love that they can make something pretty with glitter without all the mess!

Mess-Free Glitter Flower

Glitter… Some people love it and some people despise it. I am one of those rare people who land somewhere in the middle.

I love how it adds shimmer, but I don’t like that it adds to my clean up time. This is why I like doing projects with glitter glue!

We shared a shamrock with you last year and this year we are giving it a spring twist! My little girl loves glitter projects and had so much fun creating this mess-free glitter flower art project!

Spring is a great time to create tulips. Which is why this craft works well for several April preschool themes.

• Glitter Glue.
• Cardstock.
• Markers.
• Scissors.
• Craft Sticks.

How to make this glitter craft idea

Start by creating your very own tulip template. Drawing a tulip can be easy if you follow this trick. Using a marker the color you would like your tulip to be, draw a lower case “Y”. Add a mountain peak in the middle. Then the letter U underneath! Just like that, you have a tulip! Use your scissors to carefully cut out the tulip shape, starting with a snip in the middle.

Add stems and grass on the bottom of your paper. Line up your tulip template at the top of your stem. Outline again in the color if or your tulip and then in matching glitter glue. Pull the glitter to the center using a craft stick. Lift your template to see your pretty, shimmery tulip! Repeat with as many tulips as you like for your picture.Add some shimmer to the grass if you like and then allow to dry. 

These would make a great card to send in the mail or a pretty picture to hang in the house for spring. You are going to enjoy making this pretty mess-free glitter flower art project!

Glitter Shamrocks

We are seeing green and sharing some of our favorite St Patrick’s day crafts for kids. From construction paper crafts to naturally green snacks we have a lot of fun St. Patty’s day ideas. Today I am sharing an idea inspired by our rainbow hearts. These are fun mostly mess free glitter shamrocks!

I don’t like to use glitter often… it is one of those supplies that can put me over the edge. I don’t like to clean it up. If glitter is used we usually move our crafting outdoors, but this time of year that isn’t always possible. To make our glitter shamrocks we found a mostly mess free way around it!

Supplies for your St Patrick’s Day Art:

• Colored Glitter Glue.
• A Shamrock Outline Printed on Cardstock. (Find one using a quick google image search)
• A Plain Piece of Cardstock. We used white, but you could play with other colors.
• Cotton Swabs.
• Scissors

How to make mostly mess free St. Patrick’s Day Crafts for Kids:

Print out your shamrock and then cut it out from the inside, leaving the edges intact.

Tape down your base piece of paper to your surface and then tape down your shamrock paper on top. This way it won’t move while your little one is working.

Take your glitter glue and outline your shamrock. You can use green with some gold accents, rainbow glitter, or any combination your little one wants to try!

Using the cotton swabs, pull the glitter towards the middle of the shamrock. Work your way around the edges until all of the glitter glue has been pulled inside. You can do a second time around if you want to add more color. I did another round on our larger one, but not the smaller ones.

Peel back the tape and remove your top sheet of paper to reveal your beautiful glitter shamrock!

Let dry completely and then display through the holiday!
