Kindness Rocks

Whether you have painted 1, 10, or 100 rocks you are going to love this fun way to create kindness rocks to hide around town.

A simple painting technique that even the youngest of kiddos can help out with. The perfect way to spread around a little joy this rock hunting and hiding season!

I first saw this method on a rock painting website. It’s such an inexpensive method for adding a base coat to rocks.

Supplies to quickly add a base coat to rocks:

• Rocks.
• Acrylic Paints. 2 Colors that can blend well.
• 2 Plastic Tubs.
• 2 Smaller Cups or Containers.
• Water.
• Craft Sticks.
• Parchment Paper.
• Wooden Skewers.
• Hole Punch.
• Scissors.
• White Paint Pen.

How to make a pour painting station

A big part of this process is creating the dripping stands. You will need 2.

Upcycle old food containers to make these! Punch 2 holes on each side, then cut out to the top using scissors. Place the skewers across the top to hold the rock up!

How to base coat your rocks

Mix your acrylic paint with a little bit of water, just enough to get it a bit more fluid. You can play around a bit with the consistency and always add a second coat if you end up a bit too thin.

Place your first rock on your stand and pour the paint over. Let the extra drip over the edges. You can blow on the rock to pop any bubbles.

Then remove the rock and place it on parchment paper.

Next, pour your second rock, on the same stand, using your second color.

You will end up with some single colored rocks and some marbled rocks, and some when the colors blend completely together.

Allow your rocks to dry completely before adding on your words. A white paint pen works great for this!

Add on cute little words or phrases that would brighten someone’s day.
