Do you play with your kids? Well guess what…then you are also teaching your kids! Through play, children can develop physical, social, cognitive and language skills. Along with two other blogs, Parenting From the Heart and Views From a Step Stool, we have created a weekly #PowerofPlay52 challenge that builds community and focuses on the undeniable power of play!
Week 1 is March 27th but feel free to hop in any time!
What is #PowerofPlay52?
Each week will have a prompt meant to inspire play and learning in your own home. We want this to be an experience where we can learn from one another and share in our ideas and fun! Feel free to take the prompt and make it your own, interpreting it in any way you like. We LOVE to see the creativity. For example, if it’s orange week, show us a picture of you making fresh-squeezed orange juice, a beautiful orange piece of artwork, or a spelling game with the word ‘orange’!
We believe fully in the power of play with kids, and also believe that play does not have to be elaborate or expensive to evoke learning. That is why we have created the eBook, The Undeniable Power of Play, which has over 101 ideas, tips and tricks for implementing play-based learning at home or in the classroom. Our favorite part of the book? Modifications for various ages and extension activities to take your play even further (or get some more use out of the same materials!).
How to Play Along?
Join us on Instagram @undeniablepowerofplay, and use the #PowerOfPlay52 on your fun learning activities to share your ideas with the community. We will be selecting a few posts a week to share on our page as well.
Make sure you come follow us on Instagram so that you don’t miss any of the fun, and feel free to spread the word! Additionally, you can find re-caps of the week on our Facebook page.
This is our second year doing this challenge and we had SO.MUCH.FUN the first time around. This time, we want to offer you a printable version of the prompts so that you can hang them on your fridge or keep them on your desk, never missing a week! (Don’t worry, if you do miss one, its A-OK)
