It’s spring time and we’re spring cleaning everything from our homes to our yards. Now it’s time for a Pinterest account cleanup!
How we did our Pinterest Account Cleanup
I was browsing through our Pinterest account page and realized how long it had been since I gave it a good update. What better time than during the season of spring cleaning?
It wasn’t terrible, but there is definitely room for improvement.
I started pretty simple by rearranging the first boards on our account. I still had St Patrick’s Day and Easter up at the top. I moved those back to the bottom and brought up some more relevant boards and placed them just after our Twitchetts board and our group boards. Next I made sure that what we continually blog about followed. Next up came our more specific, yet evergreen, boards. Like the ones for the kids and the individual party boards.
Next I took a look at the board pictures.
I debated on creating all new covers for all of our boards. I searched around Pinterest to see what some of the bigger bloggers, in our niche, were doing. They were displaying their content as their board covers. So I followed suit. I did, however, want to make sure that our covers looked nice together and were consistent. I tried to remove any text from the pictures and showcase our more popular pins.
Next up, board titles.
When I first started pinning, I created fun and cute titles. I still love some of the titles, but it’s more important that the boards show up in the searches. So I changed some of them up a bit.
Get your SEO hat on and change those Board Descriptions!
Sure, this board contains all those things. But it has more! And don’t forget to keep your editorial calendar in mind too. If you know that you will be writing about something, try to add it to the description.
Last I took a look at our account description.
It’s good, but I felt like it was a bit dated. I also debated on whether or not to change from our picture to our logo. I did a quick scan through my Pinterest feed. Most of my fellow bloggers were still using their picture. So I decided to stick with our picture. At least until our next Pinterest account cleanup comes around.
So here’s are updated page. It’s not perfect, but it’s perfectly Twitchetts! Feel free to hop over to our Pinterest Page and check it all out.
We had another amazing month in March. We’re hoping the Dishwasher post will continue to do well during the spring cleaning months.
~ March 2016 ~
(All stats are based on our Pinterest sessions)
Pinterest Page Views: 80,673 – Up 14,242 views since last month
New Subscribers: 597 – Up down 143 since last month
Pinterest Followers: 4190 – Up 986 from last month
This is the second month in a row where we’ve had a big jump in Pinterest followers. It seems like once we hit the 2,000 followers mark, it’s been steadily increasing. Hopefully that continues!
As of right now, I’m going to Leave the idea of creating a bunch of pinterest board covers. Sure, some people are doing it. But when you weigh how much time it takes to create, pin, and select those covers…it just doesn’t seem worth it. I would rather people come to our account and see what we do, not what we say we do. Not to mention the fact that you can’t even see board covers on mobile anymore. Let me know whether or not you agree!
